Sub: Shri.Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Hon’ble Governor of Tamilnadu – Visiting Coimbatore – Participating in RSS meetings- Elections – Model Code of Conduct- Violation – Reg.
We are given to understand that the Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu Thiru. Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, is meeting regularly persons belonging to the BJP and RSS an outfit which is actively supporting the electoral success of BJP. We understand some of the people he met during this period of Model Code of Conduct are M/s. R.Rajagopal IAS (Retd) BJP, S.G.Suriya, BJP, Maruthi (RSS), M.Nachiappan (RSS), Advocate Subash Babu (ABVS), Dharmabandhu Acharya Swamy (RSS) and others.
We now reliably understand that, the Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu Thiru. Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, is visiting Coimbatore today (6th April 2026) and attending various functions, including Vivekananda Blood Bank managed by Swami Vivekanda Seva Kendra, meeting with Karyakartas at 11.45 am at Arya Vidya Pharmacy at Ramanathapuram, Coimbatore and meeting the professors from SSU, Shiksha Sanskrit Uthanyas at 04.00 pm.
We state this with concern that the Constitutional head of the state attending the meetings of an outfit of a Political Party during the elections, more particularly during the period of model code of conduct being in vogue, shall be construed as being against the ethos of the Constitution and the spirit of Free and Fair Elections. When the Governor, as per the oath he had undertaken, is supposed to “..preserve, protect and defend the Constitution and law”, his acting in this manner will surely vitiate the process of elections in the state of Tamilnadu.
We state that the numerous meetings of The Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu Thiru. Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar with persons from a particular Political Party and its outfits and participating in the public functions of that party or its outfits gives an impression that he is endorsing a particular political party in these elections. The Election Commission of India, which is also a Constitutional body must intervene and issue suitable directives/advices. Failure to intervene will certainly affect free and fair elections.
Hence, we request that the Election Commission should intervene to render justice and fairness to the electoral process, and to instil faith and confidence of the people.
